Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan, who is also known as the Queen of Funk, is an American musician. Her total number of Grammy awards is of ten Grammys in her long career spanning over 50 years. Billboard Magazine has ranked her as the 65th most successful dance artist of all time. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was introduced to jazz by her grandmother at an early age. She began her career by singing in various groups. Then, she joined a group called Rufus. The album she released was her debut together with the group at age of twenty. They won their first Grammy prize a year later. In the following years, she released her first album as solo artist. Her subsequent releases included a variety of albums in the past, like 'Echoes from an Era", 'The Woman I Am', and 'Funk This'. Apart from her work in the music industry, she also gained reputation for her charitable activities. The foundation she founded was The Chaka Khan Foundation to help kids from families with low incomes, along with those suffering from autism. Khan was also an actor on occasions. She was the role of Sister Carrie in the role of lead in the musical "Mama I Want To Sing'.
