Julia Ormond

JuliaOrmond was born in Epsom, Surrey, the daughter of Josephine, a laboratory technician and John Ormond, a stockbroker. She is the fifth of five children born to her parents. In the beginning, she was a student at Guildford High School and then Cranleigh School. There, her first lead roles in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady were noticed. After a single year at art school, she transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art which she attended until 1988. Ormond made her debut appearance on British television's 1989 drama Traffik. It was about illegal heroin trade between far East and the streets of Europe. Ormond played the heroin dependent daughter of the character and was also a Home Office minister working to combat the importation of heroin. This was Ormond's first role and was praised by the critics as a success.
